John wins Northumberland and Durham Swimming Association Athlete of the Year 2023

We would like to congratulate our player and coach John Pratt who has recently been awarded the prestigious Northumberland and Durham Swimming Association Athlete of the Year 2023. This accolade not only highlights John’s individual achievements but also underscores the talent and commitment present in our region’s aquatic community. The award was presented by Nicola Atherton, Board Member of Swim England North East, at the inaugural Festival of Aquatics held at the Sunderland Aquatics Centre as part of the Swim England ‘inspired to try’ promotion.

John has been an integral member of our Club for many years, showcasing exceptional talent and dedication to the sport – both as a player and a coach. His achievements on the international Great Britain stage have brought immense pride to us here at the club and also within the North East region.

The Festival of Aquatics provided the perfect forum for John’s recognition.  John led the Sedgefield activities and demos at the event, helping raise awareness of water polo within the region, alongside that of artistic swimming and diving. The Sunderland Aquatics Centre buzzed with excitement as participants, coaches, and supporters gathered to celebrate aquatics.

Swim England North East also extends its congratulations to John and wish him continued success in his sporting endeavours.
