4th place at U14 Northern League
We sent an Under 14’s mixed team to the Northern League Tournament at Maltby, Rotherham on Saturday 2nd June.
The tournament consisted of six teams from across the region, including Leeds, Grantham, Sheffield A, Sheffield B, Rotherham and ourselves. Our team ranged in age from 11 years up to 14 years old, with some of the younger players using this tournament as a developmental opportunity in order to gain some competitive game play. Games were much shorter than usual due to a busy schedule, meaning each game was just 8 minutes in duration.
The first game was against Leeds. This game started tighter than we had anticipated and ended with a 4-5 loss. After a motivational team talk from coaches Kate and Paul after the game, the team were determined to work hard in their next game and wanted to climb the leader board, with a view to taking home the gold medal. The second game was against Sheffield B and it was evident to see how motivated the team had become; the end result was a fantastic 3-10 win. The third game – which was against Grantham - ended in a respectable 1-1 draw before an unfortunate 3-9 loss against Sheffield A. The last game of the day was against Rotherham where the team were able to take a 1-2 win and walked away in fourth place.
