First weekend in Champ 1 for our men's team

The men’s team travelled to Bolton, 10 players strong, to begin the championship 1 campaign

The first game of the weekend was against Exeter. Sedgefield started strong and led throughout, with the new look team showing no signs of a drop off in quality from phase 1. Fatigue proved an issue late on, succumbing to some unfortunate last quarter penalty calls to lose the game 15-14 in the final minute.

The Sunday game was against familiar opposition in Watford, having previously beaten them on penalties at their home pool to secure division 1 status last season. Against a squad of 13 fully fledged division 1 players, Sedgefield put up a great fight to compete throughout, losing 13-12 despite having multiple chances to tie the game late on.
